I am Calvin Terlizzi – truth seeker, chessplayer and webmaster. When I was 20 years-old, I had a religious experience. That was over six years ago, and ever since then I have been trying to deepen my understanding of what happened to me. Up until that point, I was an atheist because I thought the idea of there being a God was superstitious. It sounded too much like a fairy-tale. I was wrong. Eckhart Tolle’s The Power of Now is the book that started it all for me. I’ve read it at least five times by now, and I have all his other books. Someday I plan on going to one of his seminars in Vancouver, BC. Tolle is a true modern day Buddha – a very very rare type.
Chess has been a lifelong passion of mine. My dream was always to play professionally, but this is unlikely to happen. I’ve been to nearly 30 tournaments my whole life – winning a few here and there.
But, “who am I?” you may be asking. And, honestly, I don’t know. I know a few things about me – my hobbies and interests, my history with depression, but I have no sense of WHO I am. I know what Eckhart Tolle would say on the subject. He would tell me that I am the present moment, and that I am never not the present moment. But, I may want an answer that’s a little more practical.
I’m currently working on a memoir that should be completed sometime at the end of next year (2013). I have plans on self-publishing it (it’s not going to be on the best seller list).
